Alaska Passages Adventures is operated by Captain Scott Hursey. A resident of Petersburg since 1973, he has been running boats in this area since then, with over 30 years in the charter business. His educational background is in geology and natural history, and he has been certified as an Alaska Naturalist by the University of Alaska Southeast.

Before chartering, he was a commercial fisherman for many years, gaining an intimate knowledge of these waters that allows him to expertly guide you safely to some extraordinary places. For 25 years, he and his wife, Julie, owned and operated the 65 foot, classic motoryacht ‘Heron’, taking their guests on extended adventure cruises thoughout Southeast Alaska. With the sale of the ‘Heron’ in 2015, his focus is now on day trips with the ‘Pelican’.

Alaska Passages Adventures supports conservation efforts to save wilderness areas in Alaska for generations to come. We believe that our business shares the responsibility of stewardship over the beautiful wild lands of the Inside Passage.

The Pelican

The ‘Pelican’ is a sturdy, 26 foot aluminum landing craft with heated cabin aft for a comfortable ride. The front deck has lots of open space for observation and photography or gear transport. The bow has a drop down ramp perfect for wilderness beachcombing or unloading kayaks and gear.
